HOME MAKEOVER

Jake & Jennifer Y.

Jake and Jennifer came to me for a full home remodel. They were both wonderful to work with. They had a clear vision of what they wanted and how they wanted to accomplish that vision. They had researched what materials they wanted to use as well as color schemes and textures. This made beginning their remodel much easier. Having clients who have a vision and goal in mind always makes the process run more smoothly.

Their home was built in the 1950’s and presented numerous challenges along the way. The home was originally 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. There was one large bedroom they wanted to convert into 2 smaller bedrooms, one of which would be the master bedroom with a master bathroom. One of the challenges I encountered while accomplishing this was the removal of a load bearing wall which carried the load of some trusses. In order to keep everything looking clean and appealing, I hid posts and beams within the walls. This created a nice finish that was also structurally sound.

Many other areas in bedrooms had to be updated or replaced, including the windows, drywall, electrical, plumbing, and paint. Closets were framed into the new wall separating the two bedrooms. Inside each of these closets I built custom wood closet organizers to maximize space. All other closet doors in the home were replaced and painted along with a glass pantry door, entry, garage, and all interior doors. New baseboard and casing was installed throughout to give a beautiful finishing touch.

In the master bedroom I installed a pocket door leading into the master bathroom to accommodate the space. The master bathroom had to be completely reconfigured, including moving the bathtub and toilet to a new location as well as adding a new shower with all its plumbing as there was none prior to the remodel. The framing under the new location of the bathtub had to be reinforced with posts and beams to accommodate the combined weight of the bather and bathtub full of water. New ABS drains were plumbed to replace the old cast iron drains. The old galvanized supply lines were also removed and updated to PEX. This made it easier to install some of the finishing touches such as new shower trim and faucets. Tile was used on the shower surround and soap niche in a subway pattern along with a small décor tile lined with a thin border to give a unique touch.

The kitchen also needed a complete renovation. New quartz countertops were installed on top of the newly replaced white shaker cabinetry along with full height tile backsplash. A new stainless steel undermount sink and faucet was also installed. In order to gain every square inch of space, I reconfigured the placement of the new cabinets along with extending the ceiling soffit to accommodate for the much needed tall, deep, pantry and refrigerator cabinet. All appliances were replaced and installed including a vent hood. The vent hood was custom wrapped in oak wood and painted. Along the back wall of the kitchen was an old aluminum patio door. I replaced it with a new dual pane, white vinyl, sliding patio door.

The house also had old laminate plank flooring throughout which was removed and replaced with luxury vinyl plank that set the tone for the rest of the home.

Last but not least, the hall bathroom. The floor, walls, light fixtures, shower trim, vanity, countertop, and faucet were all out dated and replaced. The water heater was changed out and updated as well. This was quite challenging due to the fact that the water heater was so old, the pipes to the water heater were corroded and welded solid.

During this whole process Jake, Jennifer and I were able to overcome many unseen challenges and obstacles. Together, we worked as a team to come up with innovative ways to create the space they had always dreamed of. Thank-you for trusting us with your home remodel and we hope to work with you again in the future!

Client Testimonial

“My husband and I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience working with Adame Renovations on the full remodel of our home.  Lawrence Adame was recommended to us after a terrible experience with another local contractor and we hired him for a full house remodel on our little house.  The bid for our project was fair, comprehensive and set a reasonable timeline to accomplish the required work.  We knew very quickly we had made an excellent choice by hiring him.  Lawrence is amazing at what he does!  He has extensive knowledge of all areas related to home remodeling including but not limited to carpentry, drywall, electrical, plumbing, painting, cabinetry, countertops and tiling.  As most people are aware with any remodel you run into unique, budget busting challenges.  Lawrence was consistently able to provide creative, cost-effective solutions that allowed us to properly address the issue while keeping the project on budget.  I myself am a perfectionist at heart and truly appreciated his attention to detail.  It is obvious he takes pride in his work, and it shows in his craftsmanship.  Throughout the project he made himself available to answer any questions and was extremely patient with change orders or when material selections took longer than necessary (did I mention I am a perfectionist? Lol).  We are currently preparing to begin another full remodel on our new home and will be using Adame Renovations for this project as well.  We have and will continue to recommend his services to all our friends and family.  My husband and I have found home remodeling to be one of the most stressful projects we have undertaken but with Lawrence’s expertise it has also been one of the most successful.  Thank you Lawrence!”
